Adopt an Excercise Program

There is a tendency among cancer patients diagnosed with cancer to feel depressed. Living with the knowledge of the possibility of death, and constantly bearing the pain of both the cancer and its treatment, takes its toll both physically and mentally.  As has been stated many times before, you put yourself onto the recovery path when you accept the reality of your disease, become aware of the factors which aggravate or lessen the condition, and build a strategy that will fight and not help your cancer.

Research has discovered that most cancer cells struggle in a well-oxygenated environment, and so increasing the amount of oxygen flowing in your blood is one effective method of combating the disease. Of course many of the methods used to treat cancer, such as radiation treatment and chemotherapy, can cause tremendous fatigue and can lead to an inability to do daily chores or even fulfill basic needs. So at the very time when exercise could have the most benefit, most cancer patients have never felt less like tying on running shoes or going to an aerobics class. Nevertheless, exercise is the best way to build good oxygen levels and increase stamina.

Enter another underappreciated aspect of exercise: mental and spiritual discipline.  Athletes will speak freely of the mental side of their sports, and how they must condition their mind along with their body if they are to be good at their sport.  Cancer patients must learn to include mental and spiritual disciplines in their exercise regime, which in turn will give them the strength and will to exercise their body when their body wants to do nothing more than rest.
